Mexico City - Accommodations
All accommodation starts on Sunday evening and ends on a Saturday morning. Extra nights may be easily arranged.
IH Mexico City provides accommodations with host families. There are two options available:
Host Family with Breakfast only
Host Family with Half Board (continental breakfast and full evening meal)
We highly recommend host families for a true cultural experience, and also to practice your Spanish skills. All host families are carefully selected and constantly examined and evaluated. Most families live within a 20 minute walk from the school in the lovely La Condesa area. Very seldom, a family may be up to 15-20 minutes from school by public transport. You will have a private room and shared bath. We can request a private bathroom, but these are limitied in availability and are given away on a first come, first serve basis.
The prices for host families is per person, but couples and roommate requests are accommodated. Students of all ages stay with host families. You will be given a door key so that you can keep your own schedule (late hours are very common in Mexico City!). The majority of host families live in relatively new, one or two story houses, although some are in apartments. The families often have children or grandparents living with them, so you have adequate opportunities to practice your Spanish. Even if they know English, they are not supposed to speak it with you.
