Santa Ana - Course Information

Courses

On your first day of courses, you are tested to determine your Spanish level. All levels of Spanish are accommodated, from complete beginner to advanced. Small groups of maximum four students are formed. You will be assigned a new instructor for each week of your program. The instruction is entirely in Spanish. The highly trained and experienced instructors are skilled in blending conversation with grammar to meet the individual needs of group members. A portion of each day is dedicated to workbook exercises, and about one hour per day of homework is required. Students are frequently moved between groups to maximize individual progress.

The methodology used by Conversa is "constant contact". Students develop a wide range of personal contacts with native Spanish speakers as a result of their daily routine...chatting with a staff member on the morning jeep ride up to campus, asking the gardener about a type of fruit, sharing a recipe with the cooks, or doing homework with a host dimension. Their methodology moves beyond the classroom to provide useful tools for meaningful communication with people you want to know about! All materials are included in your program.

Conversa's "special touch" includes breakfast and lunch each weekday with the Conversa staff...still another opportunity to practice your Spanish!

Courses available are:

Intensive - This class is four hours per day, 8:30am to 10:30am and 11am to 1pm, Monday through Friday.

Super Intensive - This class is 5.5 hours per day

Private Classes - This program can be 4 or 5.5 hours per day.

Children's Program - Specially designed for ages 6 to 10, this program includes 2 hours of classroom work and 2 hours of supervised recreational activities entirely in Spanish.

Students

The student population is made up of wonderful people who want to return from Costa Rica with more than a souvenir in their suitcase. Some are experienced travelers, while others are making their first foreign trip. Ages range from children of 6 to active seniors of 80+, and the school can provide nanny services for those under 6.

Some students have studied Spanish previously, and others have no experience with the language. All professions and interests are represented. There are usually college students, executives, couples, singles, retirees, and entire families..a little of each. The environment lends itself to quickly making new friends. Some participants have a definite goal in Spanish, and others come just for the exhilaration of learning a new skill or sharpening their minds. Participants come from all over the world, and this creates a stimulating environment for all.
