Santa Ana - College Credit

Receiving College Credit at Conversa of Santa Ana, Costa Rica

Please talk to your academic advisor or study abroad office to investigate if your own university will grant you credit directly. This will be the most inexpensive option for receiving college credit. Upon completion of your program, Conversa will provide students, upon request, with a letter certfying study dates, attendence, progress, and language level based on the Foreign Service Institute's scale of oral proficiency.

You can also receive transferable academic undergraduate credit for your study at this program through an accredited four year university. This can be received from Truman State University of Kirksville, Missouri. For more information, contact the Study Abroad Office of Alci Arias, email alcidean@truman.edu, for costs and time requirements. It is important to tell them that you are considering study at Conversa and that your study will be arranged through Language Link.

Typical three semester hour courses offered are Elementary Spanish 1 & 2, Basic Spanish Conversation, Intermediate Spanish 1 & 2, Intermediate Conversation & Composition 1 & 2, Advanced Conversation & Composition 1 & 2.

To receive credit through Truman State, there is an additional payment above the cost of tuition of the language school itself, payable directly to the sponsoring university (Truman State University). There is a minimum stay of three weeks to obtain credit. The usual formula is one week stay for each credit hour, but this time requirement can be reduced slightly for longer term stays with more hours. You can indicate on your registration form or request for information that you want information about contacting Truman State to arrange for academic credit.

The credit arrangements must be made IN ADVANCE OF STUDY and you should have PRIOR APPROVAL from your school that the credits will be approved.
