Samara Beach - Travel Information

You will make your own flight arrangements into Costa Rica. We suggest Exito Travel, ken@exitotravel.com, tel: 800.655.4054, ext. 8531 for discounted airfare. Please tell him you are studying Language Link so he knows which airport to book you through.

Most students arrive on the Sunday before courses and depart on Saturday following their last class. You may arrive a day or so early or depart a day or so late as needed.

You have several ways to arrive to Sámara Beach:

1. You can fly into Liberia, Costa Rica International Airport. There are almost 40 flights daily coming into this new facility. It is located about two hours from Sámara. You can request a school driver to meet your flight (and he will wait if your flight is delayed), and he will then take you directly to your accommodations in Sámara. The cost for this service is $100 for one person and $15 for each additional person, up to four people.

2. You can fly into San José, Costa Rica International Airport and take the bus or private car ($190 for this service) to the Beach campus.

Most often this choice will require an overnight stay, with a departure for Sámara the next morning. Intercultura can provide you with a host family for one night, pick you up at the airport, and help you with your Sámara departure (a five hour trip) the next day. On some Sundays, the school offers a shuttle from Heredia to Sámara ($30) which departs at 9:50am. We can notify you by Thursday of that week if there are enough participants for the shuttle and can reserve a space for you. If this shuttle does not have enough participants to run or it not running at all on the weekend you arrive, you can take a public bus which leaves at 12:30pm from San José (around $6) or we can reserve a private Interbus van ($30) leaving from near Heredia at 8:30am. For more information on this van service, you may visit www.interbusonline.com.
