Samara Beach - Course Information

Samara Beach Spanish Courses

Your Spanish courses are designed to provide an intensive Spanish immersion experience for you. This means that they incorporate all aspects of language acquisition - grammar, conversation, reading, writing, general comprehension and idiomatic expressions. In addition to formal textbooks, the school uses a variety of current materials. This ensures that your classes remain interesting as well as educational! All teachers are exceptionally qualified and hold degrees.

Courses available are:

Group - This core Spanish program consists of 12 different levels from complete beginner to advanced. You are carefully grouped in a class of no more than six students (typical group size ranges from two to six; however, during summer periods you should expect six students consistently). Classes are for four hours daily, Monday through Friday, beginning at 8:30am. In order to have students take advantage of beach time, classes are alternated daily with one day a morning session and the next day's class an afternoon session. In the rare instance that a student is unable to keep up with his group classes for a reason such as age, innate ability, etc., the school reserves the right to substitute three private hours per day instead of the four hours of group. This allows the student to progress in an environment most suitable for him.

Students

The student population is made up of great people who want to return from Costa Rica with more than a souvenir in their suitcases. Some are experienced travelers, while others are making their first foreign trip. Ages range from teens to 80 plus. Some will have studied Spanish previously, and others have no experience at all. All professions and interests are represented. There are usually college students (heavier in the summer months), couples, singles..a little of each. The environment lends itself to quickly making new friends. Some participants have a definite goal in Spanish, and others come just for the exhilaration of learning a new language or sharpening their minds. We also have students who are studying for academic credit.through their own university. Participants come from throughout the world, and this creates a stimulating environment for all. Minimum age is 18 or completion of high school. In the summer, there is a special teen program offered in the summer for unaccompanied teens or teens traveling with a parent.
