Medical Spanish
Friendly Hearts Program (Medical Spanish and Clinical Work)
This program is desinged for doctors, medical students, nurses or other medical professionals interested in learning Spanish and combining it with real life practical patient volunteer work.
Students will have 20 hours of private medical Spanish will an instructor that includes medical terminology and address such issues as patient communication, medical terms, relevant vocabulary as well as brush up on their basic Spanish knowledge from 8:00h to 12:00h Monday through Friday and then volunteer in a local hospital from 13:00 to 17:00h Monday through Friday in a variety of areas of expertise. Using the students' Curriculum vitae or other credentials the student is matched in their area of interest. The hospital treats a variety of low income patients and the volunteers will have 20 hours of weekly contact in this clinical setting.
Students must be at least at an intermediate language level in order to allow for adequate patient communication. If you are not at this language level you may attend school first and then enroll in the program when your teacher feels you are ready.
