ILISA - Course Information
Class Styles
Our groups are limited to a maximum of FOUR students. Private classes with tailor-made programs are also available. Additionally, we offer a program that combines private instruction with the economy of group classes. Whether you are a beginner, an advanced student, or somewhere in between, our programs will make your learning experience a successful one.
ILISA requires its teachers to participate in internal training programs and offers incentives for participation in external programs to continue increasing their teaching effectiveness. At ILISA top quality instruction is of highest priority, and the teaching staff is the most valuable asset.
Your language skills be will be assessed at the beginning of the course and then monitored continuously. If you take private classes, ILISA will discuss your goals and tailor the program content.
The Courses
1. Group-4
Four hours daily of small group instruction with a maximum of four students per group. Classes are 8:00 a.m. to noon with one 20-minute break. Occasionally, during the peak summer season, classes are held in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm.
2. Group-4 Plus
Four hours daily of group with two hours of private classes in afternoon. This private instruction allows for special needs of your professional interest. For example, doctors or nurses may want to visit a hospital to meet counterparts. Business people can work on special vocabulary, and cultural or social customs. Afternoon classes are from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 pm.
3. PRIVATE: One-to-One 4 hours per day
4. PRIVATE: One-to-One 6 hours per day
For those with high level needs who want to make the fastest progress possible with the same scheduling as Group-4 or Group-4 Plus. We especially recommend this program if you have only one week to study.
5. NEW Executive Program
Maximum use of your valuable time! Includes seven 55-minute classes daily, with two different teachers and a completely tailor made course curriculum. Lunch with teacher included. Written needs assessment and phone interview prior to arrival in Costa Rica, and all books and learning materials are included. This Executive Program is priced separately from accommodations, therefore students have a choice of accommodations.
Computer Lab
ILISA’s computer lab features the latest in multimedia Spanish software so that you can continue building your Spanish skills after class. The computer lab also offers access to the internet, e-mail and popular word processing and spreadsheet programs. Best of all, these services are free, and are for the use of students in all programs!
Programs for Children
ILISA also offers classes for children ages five and up at discounted fees. The scheduling is flexible and is normally less intensive than our adult programs. A nanny service is also available. Request complete information on what we can do for you if you want to bring your family along.
Students
The student population is made up of great people who want to return from Costa Rica with a really good command of the language. Some are experienced travelers, while others are making their first foreign trip. Ages range from teens to 80 plus. Some have studied Spanish previously, and others have no experience with the language. All professions and interests are represented.
The environment lends itself to quickly making new friends. Some participants have a definite goal in Spanish, and others come just for the exhilaration of learning a new skill or sharpening their minds. We also have students who are studying for academic credit. Participants come from throughout the world, and this creates a stimulating environment for all. This program attracts many professionals and executives due to its outstanding facilities and serious programs.
