PROGRAMS

All levels of Spanish are accommodated. The programs focus on grammar, reading, writing, and conversational Spanish. The program is divided into 10 levels of study, with never more than 6 people in a group. The first four levels concentrate on grammar, vocabulary, practical situations, and conversation, while the upper levels concentrate mainly on conversation, advanced reading and advanced writing topics.
Group lessons (20 hours per week) - Never more than 6 per class. Students progress through the levels and every three weeks and exams are given to reassign the groups. Group classes are held from 9am to 1pm.
Private lessons (20 hours per week, with the option to add more hours) - For more individualized attention and an excellent idea for professionals who seek a specialized Spanish vocabulary . Courses held in the afternoons from 2pm to 6pm.
Group Plus Private – Morning group classes with 2 hours private classes in the afternoons.
Specialized courses - The school can offer customized courses for those wishing to have additional attention or who would like a course that focuses on special interests such as medicine, law, business, or social services.
Tango and Spanish! – Add this program to any Spanish classes. Four tango lessons per week, two in a group, two private, working with many of the city’s best teachers. Free admission to many of the top tango clubs with a smooth integration into the city’s culture.
Spanish-Medical Course - Developed for medical professionals, the program combines the regular Spanish immersion program with medical-specific Spanish and cultural training. Morning group classes have six students. In the afternoons students are engaged in a wide variety of medical-oriented activities. The main portion is clinical shadowing in either a hospital or health clinic.
Argentina-Chile Combination – Combine your study in two of South America’s most exciting countries by also attending ECELA’s sister school in Santiago, Chile. Seamless continuation of classes with special rates and one way, between country airfare included.

50+ SpanishThe school has prepared special excursions during the months of April, May, and December for the seasoned language learner.

Teen Spanish The school offers special activities geared towards teens.  Participants must be 13 to 18 years of age.  2010 Start Dates: Any Monday in June.

Spanish & Volunteer Work The school places you in a volunteer position in a field where you have an interest.  These are tried and true volunteer agencies.  Must have a minimum of four weeks of language courses along with this so the school can ensure that you are at an appropriate language level.
 

STUDENTS

Students at all levels of Spanish come from many parts of the world, creating a stimulating atmosphere for all. There are students of all ages and levels. Minimum age for independent study is 17 or completion of high school. Teens from 12 - 16 can study if they are accompanied by a family member, but private classes are required. Most participants come unaccompanied, couples and families can be accommodated.
