Accommodations
Studying Spanish in Mexico involves living the culture of the people. IMAC offers the student many accommodations. Intensive Spanish language learning is facilitated by actually living here in the language community. Accommodation can be provided to our Spanish students at a very competitive rate. The accommodation available is clean and comfortable. All homestay families have been carefully selected and their properties inspected. All accommodation is available starting one day before the course and ending one day after the course. Below are descriptions of the housing options offered:
Homestay
The homestay program has the advantage of enabling the student to be completely immersed both in the intensive use of the Spanish language at home as well as our way of life, our customs, and the traditional hospitality of a Mexican family.
Staying in the home of one of our carefully selected traditional Mexican families is one of the truly outstanding features of our Spanish language study program. IMAC places only one student per family unless otherwise requested, and there are very specific guidelines to find the family most suited to the Spanish student's needs. The homestay program has the advantage of enabling the student to be completely immersed both in the intensive use of the Spanish language at home as well as our way of life, our customs, and the traditional hospitality of a Mexican family. Homestay includes three meals per day and begins one day prior to the beginning of the classes and concludes up to one day after classes finish. Students do their own laundry. Private rooms or shared rooms are the same cost. You can request sharing a room with a member of the family if you choose. There is a limited number of private bathrooms available. There is no extra cost for these, if they are available and requested many months in advance.
An added plus is the opportunity to learn Mexican cooking. IMAC’s host families are encouraged to have the students learn to prepare a traditional Mexican meal for lunch while in their home on Mondays. Once you choose the dish you want to make from our Mexican recipe guide, your host family will provide you with the ingredients, support, encouragement and warmth to help you make a traditional feast.
Hotels
For those students who prefer more independent housing arrangements while learning to speak Spanish, IMAC has obtained some outstanding discounts in several of Guadalajara's historic downtown nicest hotels. These excellent hotels that we frequently recommend have received a 4 star service rating and are conveniently located within walking distance to the school, here in the historic downtown area of Guadalajara, Mexico.
Guest House
Another lodging option for students who would like a more private lodging is a small semi-private apartment. This guest house offers less than ten rooms so you will have the chance to interact with students from other schools as well as native travelers.
Apartments
From "very good" to "best available", modern apartments will average U.S. $550 to $1500 per month for two people. IMAC does not arrange roommates in apartments. No meals included. More options are available, even some terrific apartments that include a swimming pool perfect for Guadalajara’s climate starting at $29.50 per night!
